I began my professional career working with dogs in 2009 when I received my Professional Dog Walking Certification from dog*biz in San Francisco, CA. It’s a title earned by passing intensive written and practical exams showing mastery of canine body language, managing dogs in a group, proper trail etiquette and ethical business practices.
With this certification in hand, I founded the first business in Napa Valley, CA to specialize in off-leash group trail hikes just for dogs.
In 2010, I continued my education by completing the Canine Behavior Academy program at the Marin Humane Society.
In 2013, I was accepted into The Academy for Dog Trainers where I furthered my formal education in animal learning theory, humane animal training methods, applied animal behavior, and animal behavior consulting.
I graduated with honors from The Academy, earning my Certificate in Training and Behavior Counseling.
In addition to my professional work with animals, I served as a board member and Behavior & Training Advisor for Wine Country Animal Lovers, a 501(c) non-profit animal rescue group that provides support for Napa Valley and surrounding communities. I currently volunteer as a foster for Española Humane in Española, NM.
While pursuing a formal education in professional training & behavior, I have worked extensively with both shelter and family dogs throughout California and Northern New Mexico.
Training Philosophy
Inspired Animal Training uses humane, science-based training and pet care practices. We employ the most up-to-date training methods to get the outcome you're looking for -- without the use of intimidation, physical corrections or aversives. When treating fearful, anxious or otherwise upset animals we always use non-invasive, low-stress techniques to safely and effectively modify behavior.
Our commitment to ethical and humane training extends beyond your animals. As a client you will be provided with email support between sessions during office hours, as well as follow-up care.
While coaching you through your dog's training process you can count on us to be knowledgeable, encouraging and respectful.
